Recently there has been many reports of break ins in my home area. We are pretty sure that it's being done by the some people as they would leave a lighter on purpose after the break in. Quite professional in a way and also is trying to taunt the Police by leaving a sign or trail.

Thus, I thought of ways to protect my home after my mom told me of her concerns. Immediately I thought of installing CCTV cameras. I checked them out and found out it can be quite costly to have 1 set installed. Plus, there isn't really anything valuable in the house. But just to ask, have any of you installed any form of security systems at your home? Does it really help or gives more trouble especially when it's the cat which is trying to break into your home?

Btw, while searching for CCTV information, stumbled upon this site with non technical CCTV information. I think it's great for people who needs a headstart to CCTV purchase or installation.

Installing just a CCTV at home is not much useful unless you have someone 'guide' your house 24hrs by staring at a monitor..

Getting a motion detector just outside ur corridor and some vibration detectors or magnectic sensors on your window glasses or doors, with a high pitch outdoor/indoor siren would sound more practical. If you are worried about cats visiting your home, try to get a Pet-Immune motion detector as that can make a distinction between humans and pets...

Cool

Em... CCTV does help you to monitor the house when you are not around. It means that you can see the recording files of what really happen previously if there are incident. Security devices does not mean it will totally prevent robbery. But just to share out, I have a friend having some vandalism in front of the house. He got so irritated that he install a camera shooting the main door, from then onwards, there are no more incident happen. By the way, nowadays CCTV are pretty reasonable price, you might be able to get more info from ..forum.vicvox.com Good Luck! Cool
