while I was busy snapping pictures I think she wandered to the back of the house where there weren't any fences up and saw the construction of the maids bathroom. You could always climb up to the second floor of the SD villa showhouse and take a peep there. or just wait when its finished by next month ya? _________________ Facebook |

Hi Valhalla,
I've played around with a few forum packages, and like phpBB3 the most. It feels and functions most similar to this forum, therefore people wont need to re-learn anything. The feature set is impressive and will cater for almost any level of moderation required, and customizations. The documentation is also quite comprehensive, important for maintenance and administration. It also just looks very professinal. I tried out Vanilla, but was put off by its sheer "lightweightness". Is there anything negative about phpBB apart from its "bloatedness"? _________________ Facebook |

Hi Auzani, what i liked about Vanilla is the lightweightness... and the simplicity of it... I believe that when we want to create a website, we have to look at the purpose of it and what we expect to use it for, and not just go straight using CMS with the most impressive feature list.
So for our community website, what are the things that all of us think we are going to use it for? Example, in the forum, would we want to attach pictures without having to first uploading it in flickr or anywhere else.. How easy it is to moderate the forum.. I'm not saying phpbb3 is not good, etc... i just think it's secondary.. we should decide a set of user required features the website need to have first.. then think about what tools to use.. |

Understood, I'm just concerned if Vanilla is sufficient to cater for future growth. But based on its extension architecture, probably that argument is mute.
I was just pissed a bit with Vanilla coz i followed all the install instructions, and got it up and running, but when i logged on, its was like blank! no links to add new discussion, settings page, etc... phpBB installed without a hitch. I'll try it again later. maybe i missed something? or could you help me out?
as for features, lets decide to lock down a list of features we want for phase 1.
i'll start here:
1.create new thread.
2.post message.
4.create photo galleries.
3.upload photos to a photo gallery.
4.post/link photos in messages
5.create polls
6.edit posts
7.delete posts
8.approve posts
9.customize the design.
i think in terms of moderation its pretty simple. SPK just wants the ability to remove posts that they think is inappropriate. so a simple admin rights to an spk rep.
what do you guys think? _________________ Facebook |

who determines inappropriateness here? is a posting which hentam SPK but is the truth would be considered as inappropriate? if that is the case then our website will not be free but will be another marketing tools for them. it would have been helpful if SPK can explain what would they consider as inappropriate and have those as a guideline. |

Probably there needs to be some forum rules listed down as well, acceptable by both parties.
Basic rules such as:
-no porn
-no sales pitches (must be limited to sales thread only).
-SPK marketing posts confined to dedicated SPK thread.
Wanna add any other rules? Thats why its important to flesh out these issues to discuss.. _________________ Facebook |

Yup, I agree. Basically, SPK will have their own section to do their marketing/sales pitches, etc. They should not in any way interact within our threads, except by creating their own 'Q&A' thread or some sorts.
Forum, threads must be mainly only moderated by us and SPK rep can have the right to delete posts that contains, possibly:
1)porn, foul words, serious wild allegations, etc
2)pictures that are deemed inappropriate/offensive to SPK or the community as a whole
Guys, this is basically our very first step towards realizing a virtual community, I mean, really as a 'community'. This is a simulation of exactly how it will be like when we communicate real life (we can't stop ppl from saying/doing bad stuffs, can we). I would encourage maturity in conversations which I have observed so far has been so healthy. With this website, we will have to expect more and more visitors, buyers like us coming in and start interacting, so I guess, the basic rules like we all have highlighted must be applied and practiced.
As for the SPK rep moderating, we will just have to set the same expectation to them that we do not want our website to be cluttered with sales messages. They have enough of that in their own website, newspaper print ads, banners etc. |

| I agree with Viper and Auzani's recomendation. Let this be our voice and point of interaction on matters relating to our community but since SPK is sponsoring the site then personally I believe we should let them make some use of it as well. Constructive, mature and healthy discussion should be highly appaluded as a way to further strengthen our community. Salam..... |

hi Valhalla,
I like the design and layout. The navigation links are excellent. Clean and visible. Just some reservations about the main banner, looks a bit "retro"! Kewl in a retro way! I was thinking along the lines of "nature" a bit like the sign at the entrance to spk? But that's just my taste...Howabout we do a little "design the website logo/header" competition? Prize is a cuppa coffee bean by majority vote...Forumners just post your entries on this forum...haha! Excellent work bro! Looking forward to meeting you tomorrow. _________________ Facebook |
