generally speaking chinese emperors used to sit facing south. so south is preferred. but feng shui is based on individual so i follow my own directions, not a must to be south.

I bought an apartment whereby my balcony facing afternoon sun. And my apartment is in hill side, and there's impossible that any high rise building will be build to block the sunset in the future. Seems like when i move in... i need to install aircond in the living and master room. Then probably my electricity bill will go high also...

So cham.......

no point worrying now, what has been done is already done, move on and try looking into ways to counter it. right?

IMHO, south west facing actually not that bad. okay one. Wink

As long as facing either north or south, should be the most ideal. This way, the sun across yr balcony/unit rather than directly. Malaysia is a hot country, any sun whether afternoon or morning, directed at you will not be preferred. The disadvantage is your clothes will be difficult to dry...

Not to say disadvantage, if everybody hanging clothes at balcony might be looks ugly to your condo.

According to fengshui and also joey yap, the direction is viewed as a whole and therefore the direction should be the building's direction and not the door or balcony.
